Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it. – Proverbs 22:6
As an educator my goal is to help my students become life-long learners. Through my science lessons I hope to meet my objectives by bringing the world of science to life. As students take in knowledge and solve inquiring problems, they will discover how to learn about new things. As a Christian educator I can add to that goal.
In our Christian setting here at First Immanuel Lutheran School, I can share with the students the wonders of God’s creation when science has no answers for why things happen they way they do. I can use God’s Word when we are discussing topics in health class, reminding students that their body is a temple of the Holy Spirit. Even more important is the fact that I can use God’s Word as a direction for
the students when we are coping with life’s issues both in and out of the classroom as well as the volleyball court. It is this kind of training – using God’s Word as a guide for life – I hope will stay with my students forever. May they always know that God is there for them to help with whatever situation they encounter along life’s journey. I pray that through my teaching the student’s faith may be strengthened as they are reminded of his ultimate sacrifice for us that leads to our life eternal.
