Proverbs 22:6 tells us to “train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
As a child, I was trained to follow Christ, but as a public school student, I never had the chance to live my faith every day (in school.) Teaching in a Lutheran school gives me the opportunity to use my God given talents to share the love of Christ every day in all areas of education. Christian education is just that – Christ centered. I am enabled to help children grow in their faith as they encourage me and help my faith to continue to grow.
Education is “the knowledge or skill gained from instruction or training.” CHRISTIAN education is that and so much more, because Christ in the crux of it all. It’s an awesome joy, challenge, and responsibility to be a Christian teacher, because I fell that I help the roots in children’s faith to be nurtured and grow deeper. It is my prayer that all the students I touch will come to know Christ’s love and that it remains in them throughout their lives.
