Stephen Ministry
What is Stephen Ministry?
Stephen Ministry is grounded in Jesus' command to love one another. Through one-to-one caring relationships, those who are hurting receive the love and care they need to support them.
What is a Stephen Minister?
A Stephen Minister is.....
a child of God who walks beside a hurting person;
a caring Christian friend who really listens;
a lay person who has received 50 hours of training in how to provide distinctively Christian care.
A Stephen Minister is NOT...
a counselor or therapist;
a problem solver;
a casual visitor.
Stephen Ministry helps meet the needs of individual. These needs can include, but are not limited to:
the hospitalized
the terminally ill and their families
those grieving a death or serious loss
the homebound
those with job crisis
the aging and elderly
those with disabilities and their families
those facing life transitions
the separated or divorced
those needing the support of a Christian friend
Stephen Ministry is a confidential ministry - those receiving care can be sure that their identity and what goes on in the caring relationship will remain private.
How does the referrals process work?
A person - either you, a relative, or a friend - is hurting and in need of Christian care.
A Stephen Leader learns about this need for care - from one of our pastors, the person, or a friend, always with the person's permission.
A Stephen Leader meets with the person to talk about Stephen Ministry.
With the person's permission, the Leader assigns a Stephen Minister to meet on a weekly basis with the person.
The Stephen Minister continues to provide distinctively Christian care for the person with strict confidentiality.
Consider allowing a Stephen Minister to walk with you on your Journey to wholeness.
For more information, please contact Pastor Reichmann through our church office 262-377-6610.

How Can YOU Help?
One on One Visits
Can you spare some time once a month to visit a person who is unable to get out on their own and who welcomes a visitor? We need volunteers to make a commitment for one year to visit a shut-in once a month in a specific week each month.. Many people have no relatives in the area and are often lonely. Our church family includes many people like this and our visitors take the time to visit with, take to lunch, take on a ride to see the fall colors or whatever else is possible to do. If you are interested in becoming a visitor, please contact Jean Kennedy at 375-4566 and she will connect you with someone who will truly appreciate your visits.
Glory & Praise Times
Can you share the love of Jesus with these residents?
Twice a month we go to area nursing homes to sing praise to God with the residents and hear a message from one of our pastors or leaders. We bring them from their rooms to gather with us and we try to be their friend for the time we spend together. We also take opportunity to pray with some of the residents who can’t make it to our gathering. Anyone is invited to come. The residents especially enjoy when children and families attend. Throughout the year, many of our groups, Brownies, Girl Scouts, Preschool and others come to sing songs for the residents as part of our Praise Time. If you would like to assist in a special way call Betty Robison at 377-8734.

We can use the following help at any of these activities:
1. Come during the time help is needed to bring people from their rooms.
2. Stay after the service and help take people back to their rooms.
3. Participate by sitting next to a resident and just be their friend for the evening.
4. Help people find the songs in the songbooks.
5. Participate by singing with us.
6. Use any talent you have by playing the keyboard to accompanying the singing, leading the worship, reading an appropriate poem etc., singing a solo, playing an instrument, leading an action song or anything else that would seem appropriate.
(We are open to new ideas, contact Betty Robison-377-8734, if you are moved to help us out in any way.
We are especially looking for individuals to volunteer once in awhile to play the keyboard.)
7. Children are especially welcome. They can hand out songbooks, they can make drawings or cards at home and then give them to the residents as they leave. They can assist in pushing wheel chairs etc.
The residents really enjoy seeing children participate.
8. Any singing group, however small, is welcome to join with us and participate as a group in any way that would praise the Lord.
9. We welcome CUW students to participate anytime at any of our Glory & Praise Times.
CD Ministry
At both styles of our Worship Services, Traditional and Abundant Praise, we record the services and make cd's for our shut in visitors to take to our shut ins. This gives our shut ins an opportunity to "attend" services when they cannot get to them.
Share-A-Meal
Can you cook a few meals to help us keep the freezer full so meals are available at any time?
The Share-A-Meal program is a program that reaches out to anyone in our community, members and non-members, young and old. We have volunteers that cook meals for those in need. Whether a family member is hospitalized, there has been a death in the family or mom is in the hospital with a new baby, meals are available for you and your family. If you know someone that is in need, we can arrange to have meals delivered.
Call Diane Rosenberg at 238-1055 if you would like to volunteer or are in need of a meal.
